Here's what we do...
Cause and effect.
At HBP we incorporate a range of different approaches to treat our clients. Often, the most productive method is to look at the root cause of any problem, and work from there.
What is biomechanics?
Biomechanics is the study of the human body, the body’s mechanics, and how it moves in mechanical terms. A bit like a car if there is something wrong with the engine the car won't run smoothly, nor will our body.
The science is divided into two areas of study: Extrinsic and Intrinsic Biomechanics.
Extrinsic Biomechanics
The study of movement and forces using observation
For example, assessing a squat technique or run, the technique is then corrected
based on what we believe to be the most superior anatomical form for that movement.
Intrinsic Biomechanics
The assessment of internal structures that effect the body's movement patterns
For example looking at how someone's leg length discrepancy can explain poor squatting technique. The body is a master of compensation and intrinsic factors may go un-detected with an extrinsic assessment.
We assess the body's individual structures such as the pelvis, spine, shoulders, knees and feet, screen the major muscles, nerves and bony structures that are known through evidence to cause abnormal function to your movement.
